Discover Entomology at Texas A&M University

"I know I've made a difference when I walk into Home Depot or Wal-Mart and there, right on the shelves, are three or four fire ant control products I tested for the companies years before they had that catchy name and fancy packaging. THAT's applied research."
--Dr. Charles Barr, Department of Entomology, Texas Imported Fire Ant Research and Management Project

OVERVIEW

The Department of Entomology represents a unique aspect within the life sciences offerings at Texas A&M University. It is the only Department of Entomology in Texas and it routinely bridges scientific discovery with application to human society, the environment, and agriculture. Insects and their relatives are numerically the most important animals on earth, they are commonly found in all habitats, and they play an essential role in advancement of human society.

Texas A&M University has one of the largest undergraduate enrollments in the country, yet we in the Department of Entomology educate students one at a time. As a student within the Department, faculty and staff will know you by name, advising will be made readily available to you, and we are capable of individualizing an undergraduate program that suits your needs. There is an array of scholarship opportunities available to you through the Department to assist in financing your education.

When you are ready to relax, the surrounding communities of Bryan and College Station offer numerous and affordable entertainment and recreational opportunities. Upon graduation, 100% of our students continue on for advance degrees or are hired by a wide range of employers needing entomological expertise. Sound interesting?
