Main Display Screen Area
Overview
The Main Display Area of the Show Web
Links Screen displays web links pertinent to the active taxon, and associated header and
footer information. In addition to several user-selectable
controls, this screen area displays four lines of header information above the web link listing as follows: (header line 1) taxon identification, (header line 2) list type, (header line 3) list criteria, and (header line 4) list item count.
User-selectable Controls
- "Web link option:" combo box
- Make a
selection from the "Web link option:" combo box to specify the kinds of web
site links to display in the web link list. Choosing an option from
the "Web link option:" combo box immediately alters the
active web link list to contain only web links that have been coded
with the chosen keyword or phrase. The default option for this combo box
is "All", which displays links to all external web sites associated with
the active taxon. Other options permit you to restrict the active web link list
through the use of a variety of secondary criteria. Of particular interest
may be the "Good link site" option, which lists other web sites
that contain numerous links pertinent to the active taxon. All of the
links listed are external to the TIARA system.
Taxon home page icon(s) - Click on a yellow Taxon Home Page Icon to jump to the Home Page for the taxon whose name the icon follows.
- [WebSiteName] text link
- Click on the text link of a listed web site
to open the site in a new, independent, copy of your current browser.
-
"Top" text link - Click on the Top link (located below the taxon list) to jump
to the top of the Main Display Screen Area.
-
Scroll Bars -
Depending
upon your monitor screen size, browser window size and the length of
the displayed web link list, you may see scroll bars on the right and/or
bottom of the Main Display Area. Use the scroll bars to move the Main
Display Area vertically and/or horizontally to better view its
contents.
