the displayed map. Four lines of header
information are displayed above each map: (1) taxonomic scope of list and
links to associated higher taxa, (2) rank of principal taxa shown in list and list format, (3) list criteria, and (4) number of list items.

Tips and Functionality
Basic Functionality
- Use the "Specimen display option:" combo
box to choose among available specimen list display formats. The
"synoptic list" format (default) displays each specimen record in
an abbreviated, two-line, format. Specimen records are ordered by primary,
secondary and tertiary political subdivisions (e.g., country, state,
county), where this data is available. On higher taxon pages, specimen
records are presented within the framework of a taxonomic heirarchy that is
alphabetically ordered within each rank. In the "synoptic list"
format, click on the the full data record icon for any specimen to display
its complete specimen record. The "expanded list" format displays
the complete specimen records for all specimens in the specimen list. On
higher taxon pages, specimen records are presented within the framework of a
taxonomic heirarchy that is alphabetically ordered within each rank.
- In all display
option formats, specimen lists are presented in "pages" with a
maximum lenght of 100 records. Use the specimen list "page" controls to access pages within the total specimen list. The
specimen list "page" controls are the List Page Number String and the buttons "First",
"Previous", "Next" and "Last". For the functionality of these individual controls see their
individual entries under User-selectable Controls above.
Tips
- Use the multiple-selections feature of the "Specimen geography(ies):" list box
to create customized specimen lists based on different, user-selected, combinations
of geographic regions. To
make multiple selections from the "Specimen geography(ies):" list box, hold down either
the "Enter" key or the "Shift" key while selecting regions with your
pointing devise.
- Be sure to click the "Update list" button to display the
updated specimen list after making any new selections from the "Specimen geography(ies):"
list box.
- Data from specimen lists can be copied and pasted as
simple text into other applications for further use by individual
users.
