August Grads Enjoy Pre-Graduation Reception, Fellowship

Thirteen students from the Department of Entomology were recognized as graduates during commencement exercises last Friday at Reed Arena.

The students were among numerous others from the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Geosciences, Architecture, Engineering, Medicine and Mays Business School during the afternoon ceremony.

Before the ceremony began, friends and family gathered in the Department's conference room for cake and appetizers during a reception in their honor.

Takesha Henderson's parents, Shirley and Douglas Henderson, were excited about their daughter walking the stage.

"We are really happy for her and thankful for Texas A&M and Dr. Harris and the Department," Takesha's mother, Shirley said. "They have been there for us and we really appreciate all that everyone has done."

"Ever since she was small, she has been interested in science," Henderson's father, Douglas said. "Its been so awesome seeing how much ground she has covered."

Nicole Alexander was looking forward to graduation and beginning her graduate work in the School of Rural Public Health.

"I am very excited," she said.

Assistant Professor Jeff Tomberlin was excited for the group and wished them well in their future endeavors.

"It is wonderful to see such a fine group of students complete their undergraduate degree in entomology," he said. "I am confident that they all will have very exciting and accomplished careers."

"It has been so great working with all of the students," senior academic advisor Rebecca Hapes said. "I wish them best in all their future endeavors."

"Congratulations, graduates!" said Pete Teel, Professor and Associate Department Head for Academic Programs. "The faculty and staff in the Department of Entomology extend our sincere wishes for a bright and prosperous future to each of you. "
