Scientific name: Argas persicus (Oken) Facts: The fowl tick also is known as the "blue-bug". It is a parasite of poultry, with sucking mouthparts concealed on the underside of the body. It is a member of the soft tick family and, unlike hard ticks, has no hard plate over the body. Mature fowl ticks are 1/4 to 3/8 inch long. |
