Scientific name: Xylocopa sp. [Hymenoptera: Anthophoridae]

Facts:
Carpenter bees resemble bumble bees but can be distinguished by the shiny surface on the top of the abdomen. They nests in hollows of wood and sometimes drill into cedar and other wood used in buildings.
