Scientific name: Peridroma saucia (Hubner)
(Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Facts: Variegated cutworms are an ashy, or light dirty brown caterpillar less than two inches long. Pale yellow dots on the tops of most segments distinguish this from other caterpillars. Variegated cutworms attack a variety of vegetables and crops.
