Scientific name: Anthrenus scrophulariae (Linnaeus)
(Coleoptera: Dermestidae)

Facts: Carpet beetle adults are small, mottled brown to solid black, oval-shaped beetles about 1/8 inch long. Larvae are carrot-shaped, hairy or bristly, brownish, and about 1/4 inch long. Larvae can damage textiles, even synthetic materials. Adults often are found on window ledges.
