Scientific name: Thrips tabaci
(Thysanoptera: Thripidae)

Facts: As the name suggests this thrips is a pest on onions but it feeds on many other plants too. Thrips feed on pollen in flowers and on soft young tissue in buds. Often the damage shows up after the plant has grown a out and appears malformed.
